A breathtaking blend of theatre, dance, drama, spectacle, music and storytelling by the renowned Kala Chethena Kathakali Company, from Kerala, South India, is bringing the ancient art of Kathakali to London.

The event organised by Malayalee Association of the United Kingdom (MAUK) is the first and leading Malayalee community organisation in the UK.
In addition to the Kathakali performance our drummers will give a master class in drumming to their group then open the show with a powerful piece of drumming called a Chenda Melam.
MAUK will open it`s doors to all and provide an unforgettable experience as Kathakali is celebrated and enjoyed by all.
Kathakali is the classical dance drama of the state of Kerala and combines storytelling, dance, drama, music, ritual, vibrant costumes and the centuries-old, highly skilled art of make-up called ‘chutti’. The chutti is in the Guinness Book of Records as the most three dimensional make up in the world.
